Meteora

Meteora is a cluster consisting of dark coloured rocks of sandstone, right outside Kalabaka, next to the lowest heights of Pindos and Chasion. The monasteries of Meteora, built on the top of the rocks, consist currently the largest monastery complex of Greece, right after ”Agio Oros”. Only six from the thirty historical monasteries are still operating, which are part of the UNESCO legacy since 1988.
